The Teachings of Shirelle

If you love dogs, this book will deliver a story that will have you shake your head in recognition, laugh at the relationship between the two, and cry as they go through their lows. Shirelle is a dog that has problems from the beginning. She is slated to be destroyed when the author finds her and from there begins a relationship that will impact not only Mr. Green's life, but also many others around him.

I was blown away at how fun and wonderful this story was. Shirelle reminded me of a dog I once has so it was even more personal to me than I would have once thought. I cried and laughed at the stories and the lessons she taught him. I received the ebook first and then was blessed by the publisher with the physical copy. If you are incline to purchase this book, buy the physical copy. The colored photos inside will make the book come alive even more and really make you connect with the characters.

Bring a tissue and wag a tail, this is a book that will definitely make you think.

Legend of Rhyme Book 3

Our adventure continues on as we are once again enchanted by the adventures of Corania. in the Legend of Rhyme. Evil has come to the realm in the form of Asgall the sorcerer and he has turned the world of the twins upside down by sending them into a magical less future. There they must discover Teagan who doesn't realize how special she is and try hard to get back to the land and time they love before anything more can happen.

These books keep getting better and better. A fairy tale that is fun and clean and full of twists reminding me why we read these stories in the first place. I still love Wink and Fidget! Asher and Ariana are filling out to become rounded characters and the battle of good and evil is defined well. I am looking forward to read the continued adventures as well as my kids who ask all the time when the next one is out. A great addition and I like the jump into our whole time.

Book 2 of The Blood Guard

Ronan and Greta are back in the next chapter of The Blood Guard... The Glass Gauntlet. Filled again with action and thrills, the Glass Gauntlet begins with the first stretch in the training of Ronan to be a true Blood Guard. Faced with the fact his father is evil and that he might be out to destroy all the pure spirits, Ronan must decide what he's going to do. Also in the mix, he must pass The Glass Gaunlet, a series of tests in a weird school that will ready him for his next missions as part of the protection detail.

As with the first, these books are great for bored readers(readers who think all books are boring). Much like Percy Jackson, the characters are ones that you identify with as well as fall in love with. You care about Ronan and Greta as they try to get along and make it through a life they never thought possible. Descriptions are well worded and give you just enough to set your imagination wild. We are ready for the third.

Cure for the BORED Reader

A daring rescue, a secret organization, and a wickedly cool cast of great characters... the Blood Guard is a great start to an epic trilogy...

The Blood Guard protect the world without the world knowing they do. Ronan Trueloves's mother is such a guard and by inheritance, so will he once he is old enough. Of course, Ronan doesn't know any of this until his mother is captured by the enemy and he and his hated arch nemesis, Greta are stuck together. With all the wits he can muster and all the classes he was forced to take, Ronan must rescue his mom, save the world, and not kill Greta all before figuring out just what the Blood Guard really want from him.

I enjoyed this book as did my kids. We rooted for the good guys, booed the bad ones, and sat on the edge of ours seats through the rest. A page turner with tons of action, I highly recommend this book to all ages, especially children that struggle with reading because it's boring. This book is far from it.

Post Nuclear Steampunk FUN

Sometimes you can't win for losing... when the death of your parents, the robbery of your aunt, and the attack of cyborgs just gets your goat... maybe it's time to pull up your boot straps and move on. This is the case with Sebastian. Part post nuclear fallout, part steam punk fun... Tesla reminds me of something my 8th grade science teacher would have written.

Filled with interesting science facts as well as several great characters, the adventures of Sebastian and his journey to the Steam Academy is appealing for young adults especially boys and girls who love science. The dialogue is believable including the humor and the angst. I enjoyed Malanie with her devil don't care attitude and how she related to Sebastian and the world laying in decay.

This book has an important message to all of us and I am very glad to have read it.

Monsters, Knights, and Evil Warlords, oh my!!!!

Imagine you've lost someone you loved dearly... in everything you do are memories from the man you called father... and you only solstice is a ride through the woods. Already grieving, something takes a hold of you and drops you in a world of monsters, knights, and ruthless leaders. Such is the case in The Carnelian Legacy..

I found this book to be quite good. Despite the age old love triangle, Marisa was a pretty cool character. Her expression of loss seemed quite real and you learned to care about her decisions. The monsters showed great creativity and I am happy they weren't your typical medieval lineup.

If you are a big romance reader, this is lacking much, but for those like me, it was just perfect. Enough to give you the flutters, but not so much that you feel like that's all the book has to offer. I'm definitively ready to read the next one and hope she gives some of the minor characters a little more page time.

Passion Can Turn to Magic

At first I wasn't sure of this book. I hadn't read the first book, but having two video game lovers and me being a book lover, the idea of that passion stemming a 'mancer level... well, it was just to intriguing to pass up. For those who love a good fantasy novel, this book is great. I enjoyed the hero being more a human than some battle hardened monster that could beat up anyone with just his pinky. I enjoyed Aliyah being a typical eight year old girl that had powers beyond what she could control. Her temper tantrums would make any parent go crazy.

The plot was fresh and even the minor characters weren't just two dimensional like so many books can do. Language is common so those with sensitive ears beware. A killer story with just enough wow to make you crave more.
